This neighborhood was considered part of Downtown until 1994 when residents decided to split off and adopt the name Shoreline West. The boundaries are Villa Street, Shoreline Boulevard, El Camino Real, and Escuela Avenue. Most of the original homes were built in the 1940s and were of Craftsman and Victorian style ranging from 1,000 square feet to 1,200 square feet.
